Mystic Phantasm

The story takes place in an alternate, medieval Earth. In this world, society is powered by a force called Magick. This energy source flows through all living beings, and the world itself. People have been granted the ability to harness Magick, and work miracles with it. These powers playing a powerful role in life for the people. While most people are only able to use elemental Magick, others have been gifted with more unique magick, and are often either nobles or thieves.

While much of the world is covered in land, just like our Earth, this one is largely unpopulated. As such, only one continent houses a significant amount of people: Sar-Sarath. This continent is a hub of magical energy, the terrain changing abruptly in certain areas.

Plot:
The Raizo are a criminal organization secretly based in the western region, where few travelers ever fare, let alone survive in. They're currently trying to amass an army to rival that of the Northern and Eastern Kingdoms, so that they can take a complete rule over the continent. But not just any army. An army of the dying races, the rare breeds, creatures with super unique abilities, and those with insane amounts of power. The Raizo is named so because it is run by the 5 Raizo brothers, led by the oldest brother, Szartan. Only time can tell what will be the fate of these people...and perhaps the others who cross their paths...

Southern District

Spoiler:

The Southern District is a lush forest, filled with crystal streams and tall trees. Magick is most strongly drawn to this portion of the land, and as such the soil is infinitely fertile, and people live happy lives here with ease. They live within the giant trees, and can literally bathe in magick essence, which pours out in vents. Most villages are formed around these vents.

Eastern District

Spoiler:

The eastern district is the capital. Many small villages can be found in these woodlands, as well as a riverside castle, which holds the king himself. He rules over the southern, eastern, and central districts with a righteous fist. Much work, and often help, can be found here. A cheerful community.

Central District

Spoiler:

The central district is very fertile, and has been cleared for farmland and ranches. These peaceful plains are home to many magick guilds, farmers, ranches, and small hobbles. Many mystic experiments are performed harmlessly within the far-stretching lands here. The central district isn't widely populated, despite its large size. However, authorities keep the reason why confidential.

Western District:

No magick whatsoever exists here. It seems the land itself sucks magick from anything that enters it. The vast desert extends a great deal, and many people who wander in here die without hope. There are rumors of a castle that appears and dissapears like a mirage here. No proof of a castle or any inhabitants have been found here. Only large, intimidating beasts.

Northern District

The northern district is a land covered in diamond-like snow. Due to fear of over-powering the people, the king of the eastern district let his brother rule the northern area himself. While they are allies, they are not exactly friends. The northern district king does not find value in his brother's ways, and leads by muscle alone. The borders are not heavily guarded, as the weather itself does that by itself. Despite the bone-chilling weather, it's not a bad place to live. The only settlement is the king's castle, but comfort is always available here... especially for thieves who hide from the eastern king.

Similar to those found in most rpg's: warriors, martial artists, mages, etc. All characters can use some type of magick, however they are not to be overpowered. In otherwords, no, you are NOT able to summon hellfire from the sky above.

If you don't post within a week of your last post without notifying myself first, your character can get killed off or taken over by either myself or one of my secret ninja members. Also, kindly try not to leave the me behind in posts, since I am the originator of this RP.

Upon entering most towns/cities, I will offer an amount of gold to every character. This gold can be used to buy items at certain towns, villages, etc, which I will list at the first entry post of each town. Also, if your character has a job/skill they can use in towns, they can also earn money that way.

The trees were too numerous to count. Behind any one of them, a thief or criminal could be hidden. Many likely were, as the Southern District was a known melting pot for Black Market sellers and consumers alike. The mostly peaceful forest held many secrets in its shadows. One such secret sat on its knee behind a tall magic oak. No light shone on this man, hiding him perfectly among the mossy soil beneath him. All that could be seen was the glimmer of metal at the top of his silhouette. The shadow of a hand reached up across it, sliding its fingers down the silvery object. From the gaps between the fingers, two purple lights ignited the air with light, illuminating what was around him.

The lights came from the eye sockets of a metal mask, mostly hidden by a ragged hooded cloak which hid most of his body. He was a very tall man, with a stocky figure from the looks of how the cloak sat upon him. His wide shoulders rotating as they stretched, his powerful long arms reached out in both directions as though to strangle the nearest living thing. Gloves covered his hands, and thick boots hid his feet. Every detail that could identify this man was null and hidden. But despite this, there were men looking for him. They called him "murderer" and "dangerous". These thoughts raced through his head, but no sign of emotion could be seen on the solemn mask. It was shaped after a man's face, but it was anyone's guess if it even closely resembled his.

He began to stride through the darkness, his eyes dimly guiding his way. It would be impossible to find him here. They would never venture this far into the forest. But certain people would. They weren't exactly looking for him, but he was certainly looking for them.

They called him Phi, for he was silent. A fact his targets could only dread as their clocks' hands slowly reach their end.

Lush vegetation everywhere. The water of the river babbling softly, owls hooting across the night to each other, and the sound of the wind rustling the leaves. It was a the relaxing quiet of nighttime in the Eastern District. At least...so everyone thought. Deep within the forests, there was a disturbance. One that would change the life of one young siren woman forever...

"Git 'er!"

A scream. One so potently beautiful and celestial sounding it had become the fixation of a group of bandits. They were by no means small men. Most of them were rather large, bulky, built as if they did nothing but eat and drink all day. They wore mismatching garb, all stolen, and carried weapons of different types. The one closest to the female who fled them...carried a scimitar. The woman continued to run, carrying with her a small pack of herbs that she'd been picking when they'd found her. Her royal blue clothing stuck out in the midst of all the green. Her footsteps were soft, but her breathing was rapid and panicked. White hair trailed behind her, and gentle blue eyes were filled with fear.

"Stop her!"
"Catch that siren!"

This was so very difficult on Aria. One slip where someone heard her voice, and this would happen. She was normally so careful, too! But she'd somehow missed out on seeing the bandits in the area when she'd come to pick medicinal herbs. And now they chased her. She glanced over her shoulder. They were so close. So close......

And suddenly she felt nothing beneath her feet. Her eyes widened, she took a little gasp of breath......and then she fell. She screamed for only a moment, before her small body slammed into the water below the miniature falls, her head hitting a rock...and then...unconsciousness. At least the bandits would not get her now. Her body drifted down the river, before catching on a large rock. Still, she was unconscious. Barely breathing, and her body battered, slumped on the rock...but alive. The bandits cursed loudly, all refusing to go in the water after the girl. Considering her now dead and lost to them, they turned, leaving to go back to the nearest village where they could eat, drink, and find women for themselves for the night. The stunningly beautiful woman's body simply remained draped onto a large rock, where she would be in plain view of those who looked in that general direction...

The Eastern forest was quiet, and a small breeze was making its way through the air. Ran opened her tired eyes, draping her forearm over her face as a maple leaf made its way to Ran’s nose. She sat in the shade of a large tree, leaning up against the stump as if it were a couch someone had accidentally fallen asleep on. She mumbled something under her breath with an angry expression, and stood up onto the fresh green grass. Her back ached, but it wasn’t something she couldn’t deal with. As she took a step forward, she heard a loud shout, causing her to freeze like a statue. Ran’s ears propped up, catching only faint sounds of men yelling. They’re probably hunting, was the first thought that crossed her mind, but why would someone yell? Hunting was a quiet sport, and only an idiot would make a noise. Curious, Ran grabbed her grey bag and quickly made her way to the source of the noise. It took her to the small waterfall in the area, a place that Ran had used as a water source for the past few days. Fishing was Ran’s conclusion, but then she caught a smell. Unable to control her instincts, Ran followed the scent down the river until she found the body of a beautiful girl. At first, she felt a pang of jealousy for her looks, but Ran then understood the big picture. She wasn’t moving, that was certain, and the thought of death made Ran shiver. She picked up a stick and began poking at her body, checking to see if she moved. Nothing. Now worried, Ran crawled into the water and dragged the girl onto land. She gave a sigh of relief when she felt a pulse.

The sound of men violently screaming suddenly broke out again in the woods. Blood flowed through the water near the two women as one of the bandits suddenly splashed into the river, drifting past them. His face was missing. Two more began running along the riverbank, towards Ran and Aria. They weren't running at them, but likely would try to run past them. They were looking over their shoulders, screaming. A hand reached from the riverbank, the fingers digging into one of their ankles. Like a rag doll, he was flung into his friend despite him being so large. They struggled and stumbled over each other in their panic. They did not see the masked man slowly climb the bank and walk towards them.

"Gruuuuuuh~" a whispering moan could be heard from behind the iron mask as his hand reached to grab one of their shoulders. The bandit turned around, screaming with a knife in his hand. It cut into the giant's palm, drawing surprisingly little blood. The hand wrapped around the bandit's face, Slamming him into a tree. A brilliant, multiple colored lightning spiraled Phi's arm.

The other stabbed him in the side with his own knife. Phi moaned loudly in pain, curling to the side in a slump. The thief started laughing, and cursing in an unintelligible stutter due to his fear. His attack hadn't done much though, as lightning coursed through the wound. Phi got up as the thief decided to turn around and make a second attempt at catching Aria. He would not make it two steps before Phi's palms slammed into his ears with a thunderous 'WHUMP', blood flying from the bandit's nose and mouth. He fell to the ground dead as Phi stared closely at the two girls. Slowly, he began to approach them after killing his predetermined prey.
